One of the Largest in Ukraine This city is one of the largest in Ukraine as to its population and industrial output. It has lots of places of interest, too.
|
| | City Sites Among the sites is the famous hydro-power station, Lenin Avenue that is said to be one of the longest streets in Ukraine, Khortitsa Island on the Dnipro, the former center of the free Cossack state. Khortytsya Island is the pride and adornment of the city. Zaporizhia Local Lore Museum Pictures of Zaporizhia |
| | Ukrainian Cossacks: 500 Years of Gallantry The name of this city is always associated with the Ukrainian Cossacks, free wariors who fought for the independence of Ukraine against Poland and the Tatars in the 17th century and won outstanding victories. The complex name of the city would sound like "Transrapid-City". that is "the city behind the rapids".
