Of course, the monument to Lenin in Lenin Avenue has always been a must in all Soviet towns and cities, no matter how small or big they were.
This monument is quite unique, too. The statue itself is very special and it attracts you at once.
The square located in front of the Lenin monument is called Lenin Square.
This is a traditional place of May Day meetings when the town mayor addresses the people who gather at the square. Then there is a holiday concert with songs and dances.
In winter the New Year tree with garlands and a star at its top is installed here in Lenin Square. On New Year’s Eve there is also a fireworks display in this square.

Another monument is to another Soviet “saint” Maxim Gorky (1868-1936), a proletarian writer who wrote a lot about the working people.
You can see the monuments to Gorky in many towns and cities of the FSU.

You can see this war memorial on your way to Coalminers Square.
It will be to your left as you walk towards the square.
The monument is located in the old town park and contains the names of the miners who went to the front and fell in tye battkes for the liberation of their Motherland.
The inscription runs,
"Glory to the soldiers - sons of their Motherland!"

Why not visit the town market where you can see and buy a lot of goods brought there bythe local farmers who sell at their own stalls or by the local entrepreneurs who have their own small kiosks.
You can also buy vegetables right from the trucks who arrive there from all over Luhansk region and beyond it. We bought nice and delicious watermelons in October.
The market occupies a rather large territory and you can buy not only food, but also some industrial products, footwear, clothes, etc.
It is no use trying to negotiate for you can "win" not more than $1 negotiating; better pay and go.
