This is where all began. The biggest empire was started from here. You have to see Her Majesty's Tower Of London. It is the oldest building in the city, the first tower was build buy William The Conqueror. In this fortress, England was ruled from here many centuries, many people were hold captiv in here, some beheaded, several kings and queens of England had theyr residence here. A spot really not to miss ! In the Tower itself, you will find the jewell house, in which are exposed the crown jewels of England. And if the Tower does not interest you, because you think that it is a pile of old stones (like my brother does) , the jewels will fascinate you. The biggest diamond in the world, the Star of Africa is in the scepter of the queen. The tower of London is on the list of world heritage by the Unesco.

You have to visit the National History Museum. It has a big exposition on dinosaurs, a very interesting exhibition about human beings, anatomie etc. and many many more expos, worth visiting. Take enough time with you, when you are going there. The museum is so huge, you might get lost. But it is worth a whole day to be spent in there. There is even a simulation of an earthquake. So, if you ever wondered where you came from and where you are going to, than this is the place to find the answer (maybe!?)

Are you interested in the second world war ? Just do not miss then, the warrooms, where Churchill gave his orders, HMS Belfast on the border of Thames River and the world war 2 museums. Quite a great spot to have history classes while watching the exhibitions.

Wanna see how cruel man really can be. I believe here even the worst sadics can learn something. The Dungeon shows you a wax cabinet with the dark side of history. Really well presented. Torture, executions, famous killer (Hi Jack !) and and and. A spot not to miss, if your nerves are strong enough.! The same counts for the link! The pictures may offend you, so... do not have a look there, unless you are really ready!!!

See my travelogue about this place. You'll find lots of funny photos. It is truly a special feeling to see all those celebreties "live". Did you know that I am bigger than Mr. T ? I did'nt ... 'till I was in Madame Tusseauds. Press writes this : "Highlights include the Chamber of Horrors which is the home of many notorious figures such as Jack the Ripper and the Grand Hall where you will find all manner of celebs, from Bill Clinton to Michael Jackson and Pavarotti to Mandela. Another highlight is 'The Spirit of London' exhibition which covers a period of more than 400 years and spans London's history from Elizabethan times to the present day, capturing the essence of London's pomp and circumstance. " Tempted to go ? You will not regrett it. Although I have to admit, that when I visited this place in 2004 I was disappointed. They charged us 20 pounds and the visit was shorter than in 1999. A lot of personalities are missing, the big hall was in a mess... Not so great as I remembered it.
