I grew up in Pennsylvania and northern Virginia, but I moved to Charlottesville in 1991 when I entered the graduate program in history at the <a href="http://www.virginia.edu">University of Virginia</a>. Since I received my Ph.D. in 1998, I have been happy to get a job and settle down here! Charlottesville is the perfect community for me, halfway between the city (Washington D.C. is two hours away) and the country (the Blue Ridge mountains are a twenty minute drive away). There's always plenty to do, too, with history and natural beauty minutes away in all directions - and a tremendous library to cater to bibliophiles like me!
