Jordie's Adelaide

by Jordie - last update: Sep 7, 2002

I have lived in Adelaide for most of my life (plus a brief stay in Brisbane QLD) and this place just never seems to change! The city itself has this slow stress free pace to it (unlike most city's) and is surrounded by these amazing parklands that are just so beautiful and peaceful, they manage to block out the noise of the peak hour traffic and road works going on around the place! Then there is the "Zoo" the "Museum" the 'Art Gallery" and the "Botanical Gardens" all within walking distance from "Rundle Mall" the shopping mecca of the city. Running off of Rundal mall is Rundal Street which is filled with funky Cafes and coffee houses, Young designer boutiques and shoes galore. Definetly the place to been seen on a friday Saturday or Sunday night!

I live in the southern area of South Australia better known for its swimming beaches. Beautiful Sandy Beaches With Jettys (for Jetty Jumping) and reefs, and surfing spots, snorkeling spots and even a shipwreck to dive too. There are plenty of fishing spots also off the shore or the jetty's or further out by boat!

Also in my area there is the Wine District of McLaren Vale. There you can enjoy an wine tasting tour of the boutique wineries and eat your way through the town enjoying local produces such as honey, Cheese, Almonds,
Olives, Pate's, Trout & Salmon, Phesant and local condiments! There are the local craft shops boasting above average hand made & painted products and an art gallery filled with works from people living in the district! mclaren Vales offers a bevvy of gormet restaurants each with its own character and unique little touch!

There are plenty of must see places in my corner of the world & I love most of them!
