Sad to leave San Francisco

After reading so many wonderful things about san francisco I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were all true! We had an amazing 5 night stay on Fishermans wharf and were blown away by the beauty of the bay and the city. We did as much as we could pack into 6 days and found it very easy to travel around the city.
We kicked off our holiday with a night walk to Pier 39 and a super theamed dinner at Bubba Gumps. After a very long flight from Adelaide (25 hrs including 2 stops) we were pretty tired so retired early to our hotel - The Holiday Inn at Fishermans Wharf. The next morning we were up early and found ourselves walking along all the piers to Lincoln Park. Then we headed back to Pier 39 and did the Alcatraz Island and Gaol tour which was very interesting. The view of the bridges and the city from the Island is well worth the trip! That evening we went down to the docks and had clam chowder from a stall in the street. It was Yummy!!
The next 4 days consisted of Cable Car rides to and from the City, Shopping in the City and Hiking through Chinatown! The thing that my husband and I really enjoyed though was hiring bikes and riding through Golden Gate Park. It is so big and increadibly beautiful. We stopped for lunch in the Japanese Tea Garden by the lake which was so pretty. we sat there for ages just watching people on the paddle boats - superb!
We checked out the shops and the game arcades at Pier 39 and the sealions. Our Stay was finnished by an awesome boat cruise on the bay under the golden Gate bridge and around the back of Alcatraz. It was approx 1.5 hrs, very Cheap and well worth braving the freezing cold wind to see the bay from another view point!
