One of the oldest Russian cities... Welcome to my Dmitrov page! This city is called "the younger brother of Moscow, and there is a good reason for it. First, the city was founded only seven years after Moscow, in 1154! Second, Moscow and Dmitrov have the same founder: Prince Yuri Dolgoruki!
The city was founded in the year when the Prince's son, Dmitry, was born. So, the new city was named after his son - Dmitrov, which means "belonging to Dmitry". |
