San Diego is wonderful and has so many things to see, Seaworld, Balboa Zoo, Spanish missions,the sea, etc.,etc.
This picture was taken at the Palomar Observatory, if anyone knows what type of understory tree this is, please let me know, it was beautiful.
Long after I posted this page Gilia was kind enough to identify the tree as a Manzanita. She also added
"CA has over 40 different species. It's an evergreen shrub (2-4m) with oval gray-green leaves and beautiful red, exfoliating bark. The Indians & early settlers used the berries to make tea, cider, & jelly." Thanks Gilia.
