"Fabled Knossos of the Minoan Empire" Knosos by Martin_S.

Anyone who has read Greek history and mythology will be drawn to visit Knossos, the fabled minotar and the labyrinth would be enough in themselves. The actuality of what archeologists have uncovered and that you can see today give a wonderful feel for what it must have been when the palace was in its full bloom.

Grand Staircase, Knossos, Crete

Even a "simple" thing like a staircase and its supporting pillars CAN be turned into something beautiful as you can see here in the Grand Staircase.

And to top it all off you have many frescoes, some of which reminded me of the ones found in Akrotiri (on Santorini). This one of the dolphins, found in the Queen's room was one of them. A fantastic piece of art preserved for thousands of years, WOW.
