"Why Castelo Branco, the Jardim Episcopal of course" Castelo Branco by Martin_S.

Castelo Branco Travel Guide: 22 reviews and 62 photos

Bishop João de Mendonça is the guiding hand here in making this garden that adjoins the Episcopal Palace. A wonderful place to spend some time just relaxing from a hectic trip. I have added a few websites that give more of the history and some higher quality photos.

The statues here in the garden cover all venues, from
the "four parts of the world" Europe, Asia,Africa and India,
the Astrological signs,
Man's purpose -Death,Judgement,Heaven,Hell
the virtues - Faith,Hope,Charity,Fortitude,Justice,Prudence,Temperance,
The stairways have statues of the apostles and the Kings of Portugal.
A LOT of statues to take in.
