Heybeliada, seashore promenade, Turkey - Heybeliada

Taking the ferry from Istanbul to Buyukada, we decided to take a stop here at Heybeliada. They have a very nice seaside promenade with many restaurants to tempt you. But we went "behind the scenes", or rather into the streets of the town for the hour we had here waiting for the next ferry. So this is NOT a full exploration of the island, just a stopover.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Seemed very quiet in September, almost no people
Cons:Have been told it is JAMMED in summer
In a nutshell:Beautiful walk through the streets above the harbor

This is the Naval High school. When students graduate from here they move on to the Naval Academy in Tuzla, Istanbul. Although many years ago this site was the Naval Academy.

It means literally "Sea-School". Deniz is Sea in Turkish.
