Horbat Timna` Travel Guide: 20 reviews and 87 photos

This is the "mushroom" of Timna, one of its two most famous landmarks, the other being the Shlomo Towers. Here Zohara, Tal and I take the short walk from the parking lot. It is only recenlty that the roads and parking have been extended into the park, making easy access possible.
Take a look at their web page:

There will be some updates and new photos after our recent visit (April 2010) with our friends Patrick and Lea.

The Timna Park also has many things to attract kids, among them is this facility where they have many colored sands broght in from the surrounding area and then you can purchase a bottle or bottles and do a sand sculpture in the bottle.

A map of the Timna park, showing placement of the various attractions.
Solomon's Pillars
Hathor Temple
Sphinx (rock formation, NOT the one in Egypt of course)
Ancient copper mines and smelting.
Chariots (the petroglyphs)
The lake where you can fill small clear glass bottles with colored sand to take home as a souvenier.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Nature at its most naked beauty
  • Cons:Heat of summer can be over 50°C.....
  • In a nutshell:Try to visit in spring or fall, the best time.
