Kokhav HaYarden Travel Guide: 9 reviews and 47 photos

Kochav HaYarden (Star or Jordan) or KoaKob in Arabic or Belvior in English, is perched on the mountain above the Jordan valley halfway between the Sea Of Galilee and Beit Shean. This Crusader castle commanded the entire valley.
As you can see the "moat", a dry one in the case, was used as the quarry to mine the stones to build the fortress.
You can find out more at the National Park Service site:

A view of a stone wall within the fortress, you can see the size of the stones used in construction of the protective walls, would you call them big, huge or enormous?? Just at the top center of the picture you can see a very small section of the inner walls, built of much smaller stones.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Fantastic view of valley below
  • Cons:Poor access road
  • In a nutshell:See fortress and the view, then do a picnic
