Monument to fighters at Tel Hai, Israel
Israelis learn in school about Joseph Trumpeldor (founder of the Zion Mule Corps), and the battle of Tel Hai. This battle that took place in 1919 and is still a symbol of national heroism today. Trumpeldor and seven others died trying to defend the fort. Nearby Kiryat Shmona was named in memory of the eight fighters who died at Tel Hai (Shmona means 8 in Hebrew).
