The City That Never Sleeps

An old friend of mine says "New York is not a place. It's a state of mind." She's right. Life goes on around the clock, and at any given moment hundreds of celebrites--business leaders, politicians, show-biz stars, and others--crowd its sidewalks. My visit in 1990 was all too brief, just a few days. But it was an unforgettable experience.

I returned in 2011, and what a change it was! With the World Trade Towers gone, the Empire State Building once again dominates the skyline. Mayor Guiliani changed it from one of America's most dangerous cities to one that is relatively safe. Now that I live only a few hours away, I plan to visit again.

The old cliche is true. This is a 24-hour city. Something is always going on, somewhere. Prowling the streets of the city late at night offers a different perspective. And it's much safer at night than it used to be.

If you are doing a lot of touring get a Day 'FUN PASS" for $7.50 ot a week pass for $25. The passes are good on the bus also. The subway is fast but the bus lets you see the city.I like to get on a bus and ride.
