Just Off the Beltway

To the north of Silver Spring, only a few miles from the Beltway, is the Washington suburb of Wheaton. This is a pleasant bedroom community for those who work in the city but don't desire to live there.

There is a Metro stop here, but it's a good distance from most things. One can drive here quite easily; just take the Georgia Avenue exit from the Beltway and go north a few miles.

Wheaton is not on anyone's must-see list. But it does have a nice park with some good family attractions. It's good for a short day outing. If you happen to be passing through, this is a good place to stop and take a breather.
