This is where the US Army tests its latest weapons and equipment. Of course, it's off-limits to the public, except for the US Amry Ordnance Museum. To get there requires a special day pass, unless you have a US government ID. It's worth it to any student of military history.

Vintage tanks at the Ordnance Museum

This is one of the largest, most impressive military museums that I've ever seen. And if you've looked at my other tips, you know that's really saying a lot. This one has more tanks, artillery pieces, machineguns, small arms, and mortars than any other museum that I know of.

Unfortunately, many suffer from neglect due to lack of funding. The rust is plainly visible. But the sheer size and variety of weapons here is truly amazing.
