My hometown | Louisville's skyline, as seen from the Ohio River |
Born and raised in Louisville, I graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1977. After attending college at Centre College in Danville, I left Kentucky. But my family are all from Louisville, and I return at least once a year, if possible.
Louisville has a colorful history and a lot of things to see. But good job opportunities here are very limited, unless you're in the medical field.
If you visit Louisville from Derby Week (early May) to the end of October (when we have the St. James Art Show), you'll have plenty to see and do. |

| | George Rogers Clark, founder During the War of Independence, Lieutenant Colonel George Rogers Clark led the Kentucky settlers in a campaign against the British and their Indian allies. Clark took British forts in what is now Indiana and Illinois, seizing control of the region. He also founded the city of Louisville, naming it for the French king Louis XVI, who by that time had joined the war on the side of the patriots. This was the same king who was later beheaded during the French Revolution. |
