Santa Rosa is home to two distinguished Americans: Charles M. Shultz, who created the Peanuts comic strip, and Luther Burbank, the horticulturalist. Both men are memorialized in local museums. I only visited the Burbank museum.
It's a pleasant town, and a fine base for travelling about the wine country.
The countryside around Santa Rosa is dotted with vineyards, parks, and other attractions. Of particular interest is Sugarloaf Ridge, a great place for hiking, horseback riding, and sightseeing.
