San Francisco: One Place You Must Visit

San Francisco, seen from San Bruno Mountain
If you have time to visit only ONE place in California, make it San Francisco. This is one of the most colorful, diverse, fascinating cities in the world. Every part of it has something to see. The cultural life here is the most vibrant in the state.

Also, don't overlook nearby Bay Area attractions, such as Oakland, Sausalito, Marin County, San Rafael, or Tiburon.

San Francisco Bay

San Francisco Bay is what gives the city its special character. No visit to the city is complete without seeing the bay. Take a boat to Alcatraz, Angel Island, Tiburon, Sausalito, or just around the bay. You'll see and learn a lot.

Great page, Tom. Fort Point's a hard one - it's closed so often. A friend of mine got married on the "Eureka."
