Mount Shasta

At over 14,000 feet, Mount Shasta is among the tallest peaks in the lower 48 states. Unlike most others, it is nearly unobstructed by other mountains. Only a few small foothills stand in the way. That makes it all the more spectacular. It's plainly visible from many miles away. The surrounding wilderness has miles of hiking trails.

Mt Shasta City

This town lies near the foot of the great mountain. It is the ideal base for exploring the area, with a number of good hotels and restaurants, most of them quite affordable.

Shasta-Trinity Wilderness

To the west of Mt Shasta lies a vast, nearly untouched area known as the Shasta-Trinity Wilderness. I barely had time to catch a glimpse of this huge land of mountains, forests, lakes, and streams.

Mt. Shasta looks very beautiful! I like McArthur-Burney Falls and many of the lakes; you've got really beautiful photos!
