"Rocky Mountain High" Colorado by Tom_Fields
Colorado Travel Guide: 5,513 reviews and 11,592 photos
Colorado has some of the most spectacular mountain scenery anywhere. And the more you see, the more you will discover that you'll want to see on future visits.
My last visit was for a business meeting, but I took some vacation time, and am very glad for it. Sometime, I plan to return. There's so much more to see!
Yes, it really IS a mile high. The airport lies exactly 5,280 feet above sea level. Denver is also a great cultural center. And within an hour's drive one can take in some of that awesome Rocky Mountain scenery. So it offers up the best of both worlds--urban life and rustic beauty. You can't do much better than that.
Colorado has designated certain stretches of its roads as Scenic Byways. By all means, allow time to stop and take in the stunning mountain scenery along the roads. For more about the Byways, go to:
www.coloradobyways.org
You can also see my Travelogue on the Scenic Byways. It's only a small sample of what you can find.
- Pros:Magnificent scenery, and cultural life
- Cons:You must get used to the thin air
- In a nutshell:One of my favorite states
