Cambridge: A Medieval University Town

Cambridge and Oxford are old rivals, rather like Harvard and Yale. These are the two oldest, most historic universities in England, whose roster of distinguished graduates would fill volumes. Like Oxford, Cambridge is a good place to visit and just look around.

Remember that the universities, like those at Oxford, are still institutions of learning, NOT museums. Always be mindful of that when strolling about, and do not venture inside any spaces that are closed to the general public.

I successfully infiltrated all of the scenic colleges at Cambridge without paying a single entrance fee...and it was during exams week! I did respect the "Keep Off The Grass" sign though, as I didn't want to get any green on my new sneakers.

Hi Tom, once more some intersting tips and facts to one of my favourite English cities. I am lucky to live within 30mins drive. Glad to see the sun shone at Wimpole Hall. regards Martin
