Edinburgh | The Royal Mile, in Edinburgh's Old Town |
This is the place that most tourists want to see first in Scotland. It is directly on the Great Northeastern Railway (GNER), which runs from London to Glasgow.
Edinburgh has two parts: the Old Town, and the New Town. The former dates back to the Middle Ages, and includes the Castle, the Royal Mile, Holyrood House, and many other attractions. The New Town was built during the Victorian era. It's an example of modern city planning, and is the center of the city's nightlife.
Full of excellent hotels, restaurants, pubs, nightclubs, and concert halls, Edinburgh is a fun place to visit. |
