When I visited Berlin, it was clearly a city making the transition from the bitterly divided one of the Cold War to the exciting new capital of a re-unified Germany. Construction cranes crowded the skyline. But there were still palpable differences between the former eastern and western parts. Western Berlin was more vibrant, and had more going on. I'm sure that has been changing. |
