Carolyn's B&B is a cute Victorian home located in a wealthy residential neighbourhood in Cambridge. It was built in the 19th century, but it was recently renovated inside and has all the modern ammenities. The location's in a relaxing, quiet neighbourhood and we enjoyed it immensely. Even the sounds of the neighbours talking to one another, the lawn mower cutting the lawn on a Saturday morning, and the birds chirping in the trees were comforting - it felt like home.
Unique Qualities: The host, Carolyn, is an artist. There was a wonderful collection of art history books, sculptures and paintings throughout the home. As it was a casual B&B, we could come and go as we pleased. Breakfast was served between 8 and 9:30, and that included a bowl of fruit salad, her home-made granola, warm muffins, scones or bagels and orange juice, coffee or tea.
Our room was cute; we had a Queen size bed, our own little fridge, a TV, a closet, dresser, our own private bathroom, 2 windows facing out into the garden, and a lovely ceiling fan that we used when the air got too hot. We hung around in that room whenever we were too tired from walking around town. It was cozy and it felt like a second home to us. I actually miss it now that I'm writing about it!
