| | In June 2002, I was invited to my boyfriend's best friend's wedding. His best friend was graduating from Harvard Law School and was marrying his girlfriend of eight years. Weeks later we received the official invitation in the mail. We read that the ceremony would take place at the Harvard Memorial Church, and the reception would take place at the Faculty Club. The Faculty Club. The Harvard Faculty Club. Shivers ran down my spine as I imagined what we were about to get ourselves into!
It was that very day that we bought our plane tickets to Boston. The plan was to fly out of Vancouver on Air Canada early Thursday morning on May 30th with a quick flight change in Ottawa. We then searched online for accommodation in our budget. The groom suggested we look into bed & breakfasts as apparently Cambridge is full of them. Despite never having been in a B&B before, that's exactly what we did. We searched online and called around... but it was Carolyn's B&B that really caught our eyes. We wanted somewhere to stay - somewhere casual yet comfortable, and somewhere close to Harvard, and Carolyn's fit the bill. |

| | Our plan was to spend the first 3 days in Cambridge and Boston. Sunday, June 2nd was to be spent all day at the wedding, but since we were so close (and this was to be our very first trip to the USA's east coast), we decided to book a train down to New York City for 2 short days. Obviously not enough time, but we were ambitious and excited and felt like conquering North America's most famous city.
We would spend one more night in Cambridge before flying home to Vancouver on June 5th. June 5th would also be my 22nd birthday. We had 6 days to see Boston and Cambridge, attend a wedding in Harvard, take a train down to New York City and back again before flying out to Vancouver (with a quick stopover in Toronto) on my birthday. We were determined, excited, and had no idea what to expect. |

Kind of." | | In A Nutshell: | "Cute, quaint and the epitome of that fairy tale New England town" |

zappalive Thu Jan 10, 2008 05:55 UTC Good comments. We go 1 or 2 times a yr, always find something different. Fav's are Grendel's & John Harvard Brew Pub". Reasonable & decent menu. When you go, ask around for suggestions & explore like all of our friends here. Good travels to all. Zappalive | pchamlis Fri Feb 10, 2006 19:00 UTC Hmmmmmmmm, Malaysian place, eh? We ate at a Malaysia restaurant in Adelaide last summer, and the Chicken Rendang was fantastic. May have to look for this place, too. | MiniMaxi Fri Feb 4, 2005 18:33 UTC Funny "cons" line.... you obviously weren't prepared by having read the famous BD handbook ( http://www.curledup.com/wildinth.htm .... ;) Ciao. | rwlittle Sat Jan 8, 2005 03:29 UTC John Harvard's is a favourite of many, including myself! |
