Getting TO/AROUND: I flew via Air Canada from Vancouver to Ottawa which took about 4 hours. I then switched planes (to the smaller one you see in the photo) all the way to Boston's Logan Airport. The flight from Ottawa to Boston took about an hour. If you're further away than a day's drive from Boston, I'd highly suggest flying into the city.
Photo: Moments after touching down in Boston, here I am posing outside of the plane that brought me there. Photo taken by Brent on May 30, 2002.

Getting TO/AROUND: Take the 'T'! It's the Boston subway system and it's cheap ($1.00 per ride), safe, clean and very easy to use. We never got lost once. Inbound subways take you into downtown and Outbound subways take you outside of downtown. We stayed in Cambridge so we always used the T to get into Boston.

Getting TO/AROUND: Take the city bus! It costs 75 cents. It's safe, cheap and easy to use. It also comes frequently and generally on time. We stayed in Cambridge, so we'd take the bus from the Belmont region to Harvard Square. The unusual thing about the bus (especially if you're not expecting it) is that at Harvard Square, the bus stop is underground in the 'T' station. One moment you're on the regular city streets... the next moment the bus has gone underneath a tunnel and seems like it's driving through the subway tracks!! It was just weird being on a bus driving through its own designated subway tunnel.

Getting TO/AROUND: We took a ferry from Charlestown (the end of the Freedom Trail), back to downtown Boston. It cost $1.25 one way which wasn't bad at all. The ride itself was less than 10 minutes.
Photo: You can't tell, but it was very windy on the ferry! You can sort of see Boston's downtown skyline in the background.

Nice peek at Beantown, Robyn. I'm headed there on a biz trip in about a month. Maybe I'll have to find your little trattoria. ;)
