I decided to arrange a surprise long weekend trip to Amsterdam for my boyfriends 22nd birthday. He had already visited before by I decided to book it again as he enjoyed the experience so much, no prizes for guessing the reason why!

Amsterdam, I found both a pretty and a very relaxing city, with many canals surrounding and running through the city. For me, it was not how i really imagined it, and it was deffinately an eye opener! It has a bit of everything really, with cutural influeneces, beautiful scenary, lovely historic buildings, many bars, cafes and porn shops and many herbal substances (if you are into that kind of thing).
There is just every form of transport you can think here and it is very easy to get around by one of these. There are trams, taxis, trains and boats. We mostly used the canal boats which have a timetable (which ran on time most days) this gave you the history of the city and stopped at many of the tourist attractions such as Anne franks house, Rembrant Museam, Van Gough museam, the flea market and various other places.
I managed to twist my boyfiends arm and talked him into coming to the Van Gough museam, which I throughly enjoyed. It holds many of his famous works including the SUNFLOWERS picture. This is a very popular destination costing around 4.00gbp to get in per person. There are 4 floors full of pictures and I feel this was a great way to spend the morning or afternoon if you enjoy art!
