The above is a pic on HK island. See the ferry on the left? Will elaborate more about it in my subsequent sections. Notice the curvy building behind the ferry? That's the HK World Trade Centre. The tallest building with a pointed tip belongs to the Bank of China, I believe!
Well, I accompanied my best friend, Serene, on a shopping trip to HK in 1997. I was never keen in travelling in places which somewhat resembled SG. [I mean, y go overseas to enjoy facilities that look like your home country right?]
It was Serene who initiated the trip of course...In fact, she begged and pleaded with me to fulfil her all time desire to visit HK after being inspired after watching so many HK serial shows!! [She really thought she might just bump into all those handsome actors and beautiful actresses on the streets!]
Well, I finally decided to grant her wish since I felt a need for a hol break then. Even though I wasn't as keen at the beginning but I soon changed my mind just days before we boarded the Quantas plane to HK!
Actually we planned the trip to be about 4D 3N but we enjoyed ourselves SO MUCH that we ended up extending to 6D 5N!
Every stage of the trip was EXTREMELY exciting for both of us as it was the 1st time that we were travelling together away from SG, just the 2 of us. As a matter of fact, it was my 2nd time travelling on plane and a 1st for Serene! [ok, ok, we r mountain tortoises if u wanna call us that!:p]
Serene could speak Cantonese and did most of the research on HK beforehand. I was Cantonese-handicapped and had difficulty learning a foreign language except for a couple of terms [i.e. 'how much' & '10Q' pathetic right?] - it affected my trip in the sense that I had to rely on Serene on everything in Cantonese! Poor Serene!
