Wooden Church in Kerimäki

15km East of Savonlinna, in Kerimäki, the world's largest wooden church can be visited. It was donated by a former citizen who emigrated to the USA and was errected in 1847. It is said that the construction plans where written in foot, but the workers thought it was meters - and that's why the church became that huge.

Castle Olavinlinna

It might be the best conserved old castle in Scandinavia. It is named after the Finish saint Olof, who lived in the 10th century.

The castle was found in 1475 and today it includes a small museum about its history.

During summer the Opera Festival takes place inside the castle.
