When I came to Venice for the first time many years ago by school I could't stand it. It was hot, it didn't smell good and too many people made it impossible to move....
In 2004 I gave Venice a second chance - and just fell in love with it. Try to see it not in summer!!
The Canal Grande is the main water-way through Venice. You find one palace after another there!
If you want to see an opera there, go to the famous La Fenice or to the Malibran-theater, which is one of the oldest existing music-theaters (dating back to the 17th century)
