| Venzone's "centro storico" |
The small village of Venzone (about 2300 inhabitants) is situated about 30 km north of Udine in the Tagliamento-Valley. It is surrounded by a middle-age wall with 14 towers. In the year 1965 it became National Heritage, but in 1976 an earthquake destroyed the village completely. Hardly any building survived. During the following 10 years Venzone was rebuilt, partly using the original stones. |

As memorial to the fatal earthquake in 1976 one church was not rebuilt. |
