Sorry to disappoint you. You didn't expect these pictures on a Florida page. Our last visit to Florida was only a few months after <b>Hurricane Andrew</b> hit the "sunshine state". The impressions we got while driving through this area less than five months later, were still very intense. When we visited Florida in January 1993, we could still see the devastation caused by Hurricane Andrew in August 1992.

The damage caused by Andrew in Florida and Louisiana is estimated at exceeding $25 billion, making Andrew the most expensive natural disaster in U.S. history. In Dade County alone, the forces of Andrew resulted in 15 deaths and up to 250 000 people left temporarily homeless, about 100 000 residents of South Dade County permanently left the area in Andrew's wake. In all, the storm caused 52 deaths.
