The old joke that if the world was heaven, all the chefs would be French and the policemen would be English and if the world was hell, the reverse would be true, no longer holds. The food in London is now fabulous, and the policemen are just as grumpy as anywhere else. Asian food in London tends to be quite good. There is a Chinatown area around Gerrard Street just north of the National Gallery where you can get a dim sum lunch seven days a week.
