The Cours Saleya has a daily flower market and a food market in the mornings and on Mondays a flea market, the Marché a la Brocante et Antiquités. Another authentic market can be found most mornings along the Ave. Malaussena; the fish market is at Saint-François Square.

The Matisse Museum is a 17th century Italian villa with distinctive red walls situated on a hill just above the center of Nice in the heart of an olive grove close to the Hotel Regina where Matisse lived. The park and nearby ruins were part of the ancient Roman City of Cemenelum, now known as Cimiez. Matisse lived in Nice from 1917 to 1954. He donated part of the museum’s collection.
