<center>Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, is situated at 2640 m (8,660 ft) on the edge of the plateau of Colombia's East Cordillera. It is the third-highest South American capital city (only La Paz and Quito are higher). Founded in 1538 by Spanish conquistadors, Bogotá lies at the base of a mountain range that includes the peaks of Monserrate and Guadalupe. The city has a population of five million. I stayed in Bogotá for two months. After my graduation from business school, I worked in Bogotá as an intern for Eastman Kodak. It was a great job demanding travel to Barranquilla on the Atlantic Coast and to Cali on the Pacific Coast. Please check my pages on Cali, Barranquilla and Colombia for more information. |
