The mosaic sidewalks of... - Rio de Janeiro
The mosaic sidewalks of...

The mosaic sidewalks of Copacabana Beach were designed by Burle Marx, Brazil's most famous landscape planner. White, black and red stones are arranged in bold designs. The center aisle is more than a place for you to rest between the busy car lanes. At weekends evenings there is a popular handcrafts fair in the Posto 5 area. Some aisles have gas stations that remain open around the clock.

Corcovado and the Cristo... Christ The Redeemer, Corcovado Review

Corcovado and the Cristo Redentor statue. Basically, the Corcovado is a 710 meters-tall hill. The Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) is the statue on the top of the hill. The statue symbolizes a welcome to the city, is about 30 meters tall and weights over 1000 tons. The statue was built to celebrate 100 years of independence from Portugal. It was designed by the architect Heitor da Silva and sculpted in soap-stone by Frenchman Paul Landowsky. Inside the statue there is a chapel with capacity for 150 people.
