Already famous greek philosophers where living on this island, e.g. Pythagoras. Cleopatra was spending here "holidays" on this island and a lot of other historical VIPs where spending there time on this beautiful place. Therefore you can see a lot of historical sights on Samos. The ocean invites with crystal clear water for a bath and the food is just delicious...Beside of this the Greek island Samos is situated very close to Turkey. The lights of the Turkish city Kusadasi you can see by night from some of the Samos beaches.

When I visited Samos it was really hot... already at 9 am it was warmer then 35 degree Celsius. And it was wonderful when the AC in the rental car was running or the sun fell and we could wander through the town SAMOS and a little breese of fresh air blew.
But Samos is all suffering in hot sun wearth, even I would visit it next time not in the highest summer season.

The people living on Samos are very friendly. We where getting lost on the streets of Samos with our car and a man on the street just helped us with a long explanation. While we were looking quite confused and listened to him, we realized we are more and more blocking the street for other cars. But no one was angry, they where just waiting until the man was finised with his explanation. A thing I never would have expected - not in Germany and not at all in a southern country where the horn is used even much more.
