San Deego!!!

Pick a beach, any beach. Oh, OK. lemme see. Well today I guess I’ll pick this one.

Now what weather would you like? Um, well not too hot you know. Perhaps a mild breeze. No humidity. Just some nice sun if that’s not too much trouble.

Not at all. Now for how long would you like to have this lovely weather? Oh forever I guess.

No problem! Now what would you like to eat? Gosh, I’m in the mood for some fresh seafood. Maybe a nice wine to go along with that?

OK, any desert? What kinds of cheesecake do you have?

Oh pretty much every kind. Our Cheesecake Factory has over 100 sorts… My, my, I guess I’ll have to come back more often.

What do you mean come back? Why don’t you just stay? Why didn’t I????????

Where do I find the words to describe my holiday in sunny Southern California? Every day was magic and as soon as I get a scanner, you’ll be able to share in some of it for yourself…

In the meantime, imagine this…

An animal… oh about the size of a horse. Head the shape of a dear but ears shaped like mouse ears, much larger of course. Colour? The ears are dark brown – almost black. The face is brown but the hind quarters are striped black brown and white like a zebra!

Dr. Seuss, you ask? Not at all!!

Just one of the many amazing animals I saw at the San Diego Zoo and Wildlife Park, some of which I had never seen in any form (photo, magazine, television, whatever) before!

Tip: Don't try to do both parks in the same day. In fact, to really see all of the Zoo, you need more than a day anyway. Evening is the best time for the Wildlife Park -- the animals come out because it's cooler and the evening sun makes for phenomenal photographs (please be patient -- I'm still looking for a scanner...)

Or imagine this…

How fast does this sucker go? I mean is it safe? Holy Moly that corner was fast – we almost tipped!!!! LOOK! A fish just jumped out of the water a good 6 feet into the air – we almost hit it! Oh sure it’s find riding behind, but I’d love to drive too…

Watch out world, here I come!!! Geronimo-o-o-o-o-o-o…. (LJ at the controls and jet skiing was never the same again…!!!!!)

Here’s one!

Huey, Dewy or Louie??? At any rate, it’s a monster helicopter and it certainly looks infinitely more frightening up close that it ever does in those Vietnam War movies! Those seats are metal – they look extremely uncomfortable!

"Ma’m this is Camp Pendleton, not Disneyland and this helicopter belongs to the United States Marine Corps. It’s not intended to entertain."

What’s that over there? Look at those huge guns! It’s scary!

"That’s a Cobra Ma’m. And over here, a Frog."

Ribbit.

"Well something like that Ma’m."

Of course no visit to San Diego would be complete without a romantic dinner by the ocean. The sun setting over the water, waves lapping onto the shore and fresh seafood (or whatever you prefer) served in abundance at your table. Bring lots of $$ but don’t worry – you’ll definitely get your money’s worth.

Whistles on the street corner…, taxi horns blowing… and mayhem everywhere. Vendors shouting for you to come see their wares or at least come in sit down and enjoy "Two for One Margaritas...!!!"

Got a free afternoon? Then walk on over to Tijuana (for your own safety and peace of mind, park your car and walk over!). Shop for fake Rolexes or just stroll around, taking in the stark contrast of culture and enjoying a Corona or Sol in the sun. Don’t buy anything from the Duty Free Shop in San Diego unless you really will carry it over the border into Mexico. The fines are very stiff.

Well there’s more. Much more. Please be patient. This page is under construction. Check back later – pics to follow…
