I lived in Vienna from 1985 to 1994. Ich komme immer wieder, um Freunde zu besuchen, Deutsch zu üben und viel Spaß zu haben...
This is my buddy, Aaron. We're enjoying an Eis from Tichy's. The biggest dilemma in Vienna is where to go for Eis (ice cream) in the summer. For fruity Eis, Tichy's is definitely the place for me. Take the U1 (red line) underground to the last station, Reumannplatz. When you exit, go right, cross the street and... ENJOY!
Ah, but if it's creamier Eis you want, then you do have a dilemma. My two favourites are Schwedenplatz (right at the U4 Schwedenplatz exit) and Hoher Mark (on the Hoher Markt itself). My trick is to buy a small Tute (cone) at Schwedenplatz and then (remember I'm a musician so I can do this) I time my licks and steps perfectly and presto -- I finish my cone JUST as I arrive at Hoher Markt. Thus I am forced to do a taste test. Ah life is cruel some times...!!!
