Maybe one day I will be able to try to convey even part of that magic on this page, but for now, let me take you on a tour along the Grand Canale.
The trick is to catch a Vapretto heading <b>away</b> from town. Then at the end station, when everybody else is getting off, just move right up to the front, take a fantastic front row seat, pop film into your camera, or better yet, just say "bag the camera" -- I want to view this with the full scope of my eyes. The Vaporetto will move slowly along the Canale.
