Someone to keep the home fires burning! This is our cat "Spot", who's a tabby (striped) and who does not eat the fish. My travelogues at this location are about things we do and places we go, close to Ottawa. |
| Parliament and Library, Ottawa |
There is lots to see and do in this area - in the wintertime, there's skating on the world's longest skating rink (also known as the Rideau Canal), there are ski hills nearby and lots of smaller hills for tubing and tobagganing in town. In the springtime, there are many sugar bushes in the neighbourhood where you can go and eat maple sugar and see pussy willows and spring trying to come. In the summertime, there are many festivals in Ottawa, as well as a great big birthday party for Canada on July 1. In the autumn (my favourite time in Ottawa), it finally cools off and the deciduous trees change their leaf colour, which is pretty spectacular. |
| Canadian Museum of Civilization |
Of course, during all seasons, Ottawa has the national parliament, the national library, many national museums, the national arts centre and lots of activities. |

| Pros: | "It's the national capital, so there's always something going on - festivals, events, etc." | | Cons: | "It's the national capital, so it's full of government and politicians!" | | In A Nutshell: | "It's a pretty good place to live." |
