I was in Guatemala City for a week in early February 2003 for an international conference on criteria and indicators of sustainable forest management (work). I was happy to have the opportunity to practice my Spanish a bit! It seems that many people go there (particularly to Antigua) for the language schools. The conference was at one of the nice hotels in Guatemala City: Westin Camino Real - "Classic and full of tradition as Guatemala itself". It was very nice - and Guatemala was a warm and welcome change, even for a brief time, from the very cold winter we've been having in Ottawa. |
