Go and see the capital city of Denpassar. It is very busy, but also very nice. You can see the big market buildings here and all the shops. Be ware in official shops the prices are fixed and at the markets it's normal to discuss over the price.

My father and I (I travelled with him to Bali) discovered this temple in Denpasar. It stood there alone, no tourists or locals were there. The temple wasn't in any travelguide and no one could tell us more about it. The temple looked lost and wasn't taken care off. I still wonder what kind of temple it was and why it was left alone like that. Anyone who has more information about it, you're welcome to mail me.

Visit Tanah Lot in Tabanan. Tanah Lot is a ceremonial temple that is build in the sea. When the water gets high the temple is flooded by water. When the water is low you can enter the temple and see the ceremonies.

Go to the rice fields (in Indonesian or Malaysian they are called 'sawas'). They are so beautiful and green. Don't step in them though you might have an encounter with an angry waterbuffalo or farmer, because standing in a ricefield ruins the crops. There are special paths at the ricefields meant for walking (but very small and muddy).

At Ubud you can find the biggest templecomplex of Bali, the Besakih Mother Temple. You can also watch ceremonial dances here. The locals are very friendly at Ubud, they might ask you to have dinner with them.

In Ubud are a lot of artshops to be seen. Art here is very beautiful and often very cheap. You can buy paintings, jewelry made of silver or wooden statues. This shop on the picture is a painting shop.
