I visited old Jerusalem, when things were rather calm there. I stayed in the old city, just within the walls. I was impressed by the nice old buildings and small almost underground shoppingstreets that kept getting up on downstairs. Also saw that the city, though it was divided into an Armenian, Christian, Arab and Jewish part, was rather peaceful. Arabs and Jews for example were friendly to eachother. Outside the old city, things were less peaceful. In the new Jerusalem around it the neighbourhoods had a hostile feeling.

that's simply not true. walk away, and they'll chase you with a better price. best haggling technique. Also, try making it as loud as possible when you haggle, so the salesman will be wanting to finish the process quicker.

Great page Sandravdp. Have you been to Jerushalem since 1998? Your advice is very good. The conflict is much worse the last 3 years is why I ask.
