So far it's the highest cross in Lithuania (21 m) built in 1936.
*^*
Kavarskas is near the river Sventoji that means the Saint River.
*^*
There are st. John's springs in Kavarskas, people say their waters are healing.
*^*
However the name Kavarskas does not sound saint. Once, several ages ago, the Count Astikas betrayed the country to Russians and was hanged in Vilnius. Pani Kowarski, who owned the lands after Astikas has made nothing of the kind (or we don't know), however exactly his name is used in swearwords.

The real off-the-beaten-path destination. Hope to visit it in August
'Frighten the Winter away' day looks like good fun -- we could do with one of those in England!
Too many times I've stopped here just for a short time on my way to Anyksciai and back. Interesting approach of a small city. Last time we stopped there for to see the pump-house. It's amazing to see and hear the water like in the trifle.:)
Great cross,wanna see it
Hey Reda, I like the basketball hoop...I was also in your country at the time the Lithuanian basketball team won the GOLD in Sept. 2003...
Excellent page.......great photos!! Great shot of future basketball player :-)
Amazing beautiful page.
Great Cross!
(kavarskas!)
I prefer this horizon (or the swans!) than any restaurant... You have always an excellent basketball team, this boy will probably be another star...
