Charleston is a city that keeps getting better and better with time. I moved here as a child in 1979, and even after the natural disaster of Hurricane Hugo set things back in 1989, the city has grown, prospered, and improved.
It's a small place but a beautiful one, and one of the few US cities to have a European feel. We are constantly winning awards for most hospitable city, most polite people, and favorite US tourist destination. While members of the moneyed "old guard" can be somewhat snobby and remote, your everyday Charlestonian is friendly, helpful, fun. Come here prepared to relax.
I'll add to this site when I can. So much to say, so little time! |

Maybe it's time to get back there again. Loved the architecture. | ZanieOR Wed Nov 10, 2004 04:58 UTC I love Charleston and hope to visit again, maybe even next year. I ate she-crab soup for the first time at Hymans and had a memorable dinner at Magnolias. I love benne seed crackers and Middleton Plantation. Thanks for sharing your great photos and tips. |
