Saint Andrews is best-known as the birthplace of golf and as the university town where Prince WIlliam goes to school, but it's got a lot more to offer. The remains of the castle and the cathedral perch scenically on the edge of the North Sea, and with the sound of the gulls and the waterbirds you feel like you've wandered into someone's ruined sandcastle. A compact town center with lots of quaint houses and good shopping round out the experience. Saint Andrews has atmosphere. |

brendanpfox Sun Jul 29, 2007 23:28 UTC I´m afraid a lot has changed since 2003! I was recently robbed blind in the day light by having to pay 72 GBP for an at best average meal, where the boiled rice cost 3.85 GBP and 4 soft drinks came to about 12. | prleprle Wed Jan 21, 2004 12:02 UTC Saint Andrews really has atmosphere. Interesting trravelogue and stories. | globetrott Thu Nov 20, 2003 23:36 UTC a lovely page and nice pics ! St.Andrews is a great place to visit, even when totally neglecting all that fuss about golf... | zizkov Sat Jul 5, 2003 15:15 UTC St Andrew is a lovely wee town. I did not even know about the mines. Must go to the Balaka, it was on TV recently for its herb garden. |
