    • There is a beautiful botanical gardens located just next to Lake Wakatipu which is a very good place to explore nature, exercise and relax. There are also sports facilities such as tennis courts and skating ring within the gardens, which is set among the stunning backdrop of the Remarkables mountain range.

    • Along the journey from Queenstown to nearby Arrowtown, you will pass by the beautiful small Lake Hayes, which is worth a stop especially during autumn with its multi-coloured foliage and mountain backdrop.

    • Another good place to visit outside Queenstown is the Gibbston Valley which is famous for its wineyards and cheesery. You can buy very good wine and cheese here.

    • The Novotel Gardens Hotel on the shore of Lake Wakatipu has a very beautiful rose garden near to the entrance to the botanical gardens which is worth a look if you like flowers.
